ABOUT
Prom for Ukrainian refugees was a non profit event for  graduates of Ukrainian highschools, who, due to the Invasion of Ukraine were not able to attend their Graduation Prom - a traditional event celebrating the complection of  secondary education.  Our goal was to replicate the graduation process as realistically as possible, giving Ukrainian students an expirience they lost.
The event and it’s preparation took place in Rotterdam; participants came from all over the country to take part and prepare.
Eventually, the event gained more attention and more parties were involved: Ukrainian Embassy in NL took part in the event ceremony and TCH, the main official news channel of Ukraine came to report the event.

The program of the Prom Day included:
- Graduation Ceremony:  Embassador of Ukrain in The Nethrelands formally confered degrees and awards upon the graduates.
- Graduation Dance: a traditional dance performance of graduates, that took place on the Blaak Square, thankfully to collaboration with Municipality of Rotterdam  
- Celebration: a graduation afterparty for students and their families.

MY CONTRIBUTION

This event started out as a personal dream of mine:  as a Ukrainian refugee who fled the country during last year of highschool, I had to complete my studies online and had no chance to attend Prom.  As for every highschool student, I anticipated Prom with excitement, but it became one of the many things war has taken away from Ukrainians.  I realised that I am not alone in this idea and there must be more Ukrainian students who are feeling the same, and that is where the idea for the event was born.

I was willing to unite Ukrainian students in experience they lost.

I reached out to various Ukrainian organization in the Netherlands in search of support for this idea, pitching it through mail and phonecalls.
I was fortunate to receive a positive response from Ukrainian House in Rotterdam. They offered full event production and organization from their team, If i found enough participants for the event and promoted it.

I became responsible for communication with participants and event promotion.
Later on I have also assisted with scheduling and coordination, working in close collaboration woth the students.


Initiated and started the event for Ukrainian students in the Netherlands
- Contacted and communicated with various organizations to produce the event
- In a collaboration and, later, supervision of Rotterdam Ukrainian Centre, communicated with and coordinated the participants of the event
